FAQ: Domains Management

Q What is Domains Management in Privacy Lock?

A The Domains Management feature allows users to manage, verify, and monitor domains connected to their organization. This helps in ensuring that the data processed by these domains complies with privacy regulations like GDPR and CCPA.

Q How do I add a new domain?

A To add a new domain, click the “Add Domain” button on the Domains Management page. You will be prompted to enter the domain address, which will then be listed for management and verification purposes.

Q What does domain verification mean?

A Domain verification ensures that the domain you add is owned or controlled by your organization. Privacy Lock verifies domain ownership and displays a Verified status once the verification process is complete. This step is essential for maintaining data security and regulatory compliance.

Q Why is my API key listed as unavailable?

A The API key status might show as unavailable if no API key has been generated or linked to the domain. You may need to configure the API key within your domain settings to integrate with other Privacy Lock services.

Q What happens if I don’t verify a domain?

A If a domain is not verified, certain features may be restricted, and you may not be able to ensure that the domain complies with necessary security and privacy regulations. It is recommended to verify all active domains to ensure they are authenticated and secure.

Q Can I delete a domain?

A Yes, you can remove a domain from the management list by navigating to the Settings of the domain and choosing the delete option. Note that once a domain is removed, its verification and history will no longer be tracked.

Q How many domains can I manage in Privacy Lock?

A Privacy Lock allows you to manage up to 10 domains per account. This limit helps in maintaining an organized view of your organization’s online presence and ensuring each domain is properly tracked and verified.

Q Can I re-verify a domain?

A Yes, if there have been changes in ownership or you need to reconfirm the domain, you can initiate the re-verification process through the domain's settings. This will ensure that your records stay up to date.

Q What is the purpose of managing domains in Privacy Lock?

A Managing domains through Privacy Lock helps organizations maintain a comprehensive view of their online assets, ensure that their domains are verified, and link them to data processing activities. This is important for legal compliance and helps demonstrate that data is only processed through trusted domains.

Q How often should I verify my domains?

A It is recommended to verify your domains when they are first added and to keep track of verification status periodically, especially if there are changes in domain ownership, platform structure, or privacy regulations.
